The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is the apex government organization responsible for promoting India's cultural diplomacy abroad. ICCR facilitates cultural exchange programs, international arts exhibitions, educational collaborations, and promotes Indian arts, literature, music, and traditional knowledge worldwide. In 2026, ICCR has issued a notification for recruitment of Directors for Indian Cultural Centres abroad to lead operations, cultural events, and institutional management at its overseas centres.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Indian citizen.
  • Educational Qualification: Graduate from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: Below 55 years as on 02 February 2026.
  • Work Experience:
    • Government Officers: Minimum 5 years regular service at Level-11 or above (7th CPC) in Ministries/Departments, Autonomous Bodies, PSUs, or State Govt. departments. Interest in Cultural Management including organizing cultural events, exhibitions, and academic programs.
    • Private Sector Professionals: Minimum 8 years experience in Art, Culture, Management, or Public Administration. Experience in cultural event organization, exhibitions, academic activities, and institutional management is desirable.
  • Domain Expertise: Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency in a foreign language preferred. Established credentials/interest in Art & Culture.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in event management, exhibitions, seminars, and conferences.
  • Previous work in diplomacy, arts, or international relations.
  • Running or managing a culture-related institution.
  • Personnel, administrative, or financial management experience in government or non-governmental organizations.
  • Foreign exposure or prior international experience, preferably in UN languages; knowledge of Hindi & other Indian languages is a plus.
  • Interest or specialization in any area of Art, Culture, Literature, Traditional Indian Knowledge, etc.
  • Practising artists, authors, and scholars in Art, Culture, and Literature are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in social media, AV/stage setup, graphic design, HR management, IT skills, and financial management.

Salary / Benefits

  • Foreign Compensatory Allowance: Approx. ₹4-5 lakhs per month.
  • Other Allowances: Accommodation, transfer passage, and other admissible benefits as per ICCR norms.
  • Government Servants: Draw current pay + Foreign Compensatory Allowance + other admissible allowances.
  • Private Sector Professionals: Foreign Compensatory Allowance + other admissible benefits.
  • Deployment abroad is full-time; no other assignments/jobs allowed during tenure.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for presentation/in-person interview at ICCR HQ, New Delhi.

  • Names of selected candidates will be empanelled in order of merit; the panel is valid for 3 years.
  • Deployment is subject to police verification, vigilance clearance, verification of past service records, integrity certificate, passport & visa requirements, and training.
  • Empanelment does not guarantee employment; final deployment decision rests solely with ICCR.

General Instructions

  • Assignment period is up to 3 years; may be modified according to ICCR rules.
  • Council reserves the right to modify qualification, experience, age, and eligibility criteria if necessary.
  • Council reserves the right to cancel the recruitment notification without assigning any reason.
