ICAR NBPGR Research Associate I Recruitment 2026 – Overview
ICAR – National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi, has invited applications for the post of Research Associate I under a CGIAR-funded research project. This recruitment offers a valuable opportunity for candidates with strong academic and research backgrounds in Genetics, Plant Breeding, and Seed Science to work on nationally and internationally relevant agricultural innovation projects.
The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration. Selected candidates will be engaged on a contractual basis and will receive a consolidated monthly salary along with HRA as per ICAR norms.

Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D in Genetics & Plant Breeding / Seed Science and Technology OR Master’s degree in Genetics & Plant Breeding / Seed Science and Technology with 4/5 years Bachelor’s degree, securing at least 60% marks or equivalent grade.
- Research Experience: Minimum three years of research experience supported by fellowship, associateship, training, or similar engagements.
- Research Publication: At least one research paper published in SCI/NAAS rated (≥4) journal.
- Project Details: “Dynamics of Agricultural Innovation in North India and South India” funded by CGIAR, valid up to 31 March 2027.
Salary / Stipend
- ₹61,000/- per month + HRA for Master’s degree holders.
- ₹67,000/- per month + HRA for Ph.D holders.
- Salary payment is subject to satisfactory performance and availability of project funds.
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: 40 Years as on last date of application.
- SC/ST/Women: 5 years age relaxation.
- OBC (NCL): 3 years age relaxation.
- PwBD: Up to 10 years age relaxation.
Selection Process
