Andaman and Nicobar State Sports Council Eligibility Criteria 2026
Educational and Professional Qualification:
For Sports Coaches (Table Tennis, Hockey, Basketball, Football, Athletics, Swimming, Cycling, Volleyball, Badminton):
- 1st Preference (50 Marks): Diploma in Sports Coaching from SAI / NSNIS (Patiala) with minimum duration of 1 year.
- 2nd Preference (40 Marks): International or National medal winners in the respective discipline with Secondary School education.
- 3rd Preference (30 Marks): B.PED / M.PED with specialization in the respective discipline.
For Chess Coach / Instructor:
- 1st Preference (60 Marks): FIDE Instructor (FI) License.
- 2nd Preference (40 Marks): National Instructor (NI) License (license must be active and candidate should not own any chess academy/centre).
For Gym Instructor:
- 1st Preference (50 Marks): Diploma in Gym Instructor / B.Sc Exercise Science / Diploma in Fitness and Wellness.
- 2nd Preference (40 Marks): Certified Personal Trainer / Fitness / Wellness Trainer certification with Secondary School education.
- 3rd Preference (30 Marks): Level 3 certification or above, B.PED / M.PED with Gym Instructor experience.
For Cricket Coach:
- 1st Preference (50 Marks): Cricket coach certification with highest level certification from recognized institute and participation in cricket tournaments.
- 2nd Preference (40 Marks): National level cricket tournament winners/participants with Secondary School education.
- 3rd Preference (30 Marks): B.PED / M.PED with university-level participation in the relevant discipline.

Merit-Based Evaluation (Total 100 Marks):

- Standing Broad Jump – 5 Marks

Specialized / Trade Tests:
- Sports Coaches: Practical class conduct, technique demonstration, student engagement and injury handling – 30 Marks.
- Gym Instructor: Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and first aid – 50 Marks.
- Chess Coach / Instructor: Demo class – 40 Marks.
Salary and Service Conditions
- Monthly Remuneration: ₹32,000 per month (Consolidated).
- Working Days: 6 days a week (Monday is holiday).
- Leave: 2 days per completed month. No leave encashment for unused leave.
- TA/DA: As per rules applicable to non-official members when posted outside regular location.
- Nature of Appointment: Purely contractual, initially for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance.
Working Schedule
- Morning (5:30 AM – 7:30 AM): Coaching and maintenance of sports field/arena.
- Morning (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM): Office work and additional duties.
- Evening (3:00 PM – 5:30 PM): Coaching and supervision of sports field/arena.
- Evening (3:00 PM – 7:00 PM): Chess coaching (for Chess coaches).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide training to sports persons of different levels with strict adherence to schedules.
- Conduct talent search programmes across different islands.
- Maintain records related to selection and training of sportspersons.
- Assist in maintenance of sports infrastructure.
- Accompany teams to tournaments at various levels.
- Perform additional duties assigned by senior अधिकारियों of the Sports Council and Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.
